SAN FRANCISCO, September 9, 2026 - IObit has released IObit Uninstaller 16, the latest version of its powerful software uninstaller. The update introduces two new features, Software Relocator and Bloatware Remover. Software Relocator allows users to move installed applications to another drive without reinstalling, while Bloatware Remover removes unwanted pre-installed Windows apps and system components. Together with enhanced software cleanup capabilities, these additions help users reclaim disk space and maintain a leaner, smoother, and more responsive PC experience.
As computers are used over time, large applications, hidden software, and residual data can gradually consume valuable disk space, with AppData often becoming a major space hog. Media caches from apps like Discord, Spotify, Adobe programs, and Chrome or Edge, along with game data from Steam and Epic Games, can add up quickly. Even after uninstalling software, leftover AppData folders may remain as "ghost" files. According to IObit Lab tests, these residual files can slow down system responsiveness and application launch times by as much as 27.3%.
Unlike the standard Windows uninstall tool, IObit Uninstaller 16 actively identifies large, unused, hidden, and preinstalled programs that may be consuming valuable disk space. The new Bloatware Remover helps remove unwanted pre-installed Windows apps and system components, while improved scanning detects leftover files, residual data, and other traces. This more proactive approach helps users uncover and clear space-consuming software and unnecessary data more thoroughly, making it easier to reclaim storage.
For applications that are still needed, Software Relocation provides a way to free up space without uninstalling them. It automatically detects related registry information, environment paths, cache files, and required components, while checking whether the destination drive has enough space before relocation. With a one-click process, applications can be moved to a larger drive while keeping personalized settings, login status, history, and existing shortcuts intact. By distributing software more efficiently across available drives, users can reduce pressure on a crowded system drive.
Different software can benefit from different approaches:
"IObit Uninstaller 16 makes software and storage management simpler," said Bing Wang, Product Director at IObit. "It intelligently identifies software and provides the right option to uninstall or relocate. With one-click operation, users can choose the right way to free up space and keep their PCs running smoothly."
IObit Uninstaller 16 is available for download immediately from the official IObit website and is compatible with Windows 11, 10, 8/8.1, and 7.
