Op 13 augustus waarschuwde Microsoft voor vier kritieke kwetsbaarheden (CVE-2019-1181, CVE-2019-1182, CVE-2019-1222 en CVE-2019-122) vergelijkbaar met de WannaCry en BlueKeep crises in de officiële blog post. Met deze vier "wormbare" kwetsbaarheden, kunnen hackers malware verspreiden zonder tussenkomst van gebruikers.
"Een aanvaller die deze kwetsbaarheid succesvol misbruikt, kan arbitrary code uitvoeren op het aangevallen systeem. Dan kan de aanvaller programma's installeren, gegevens inzien, wijzigen en verwijderen en nieuwe accounts met volledige gebruikersrechten aanmaken.” Als het "Remote Desktop Services"-protocol is ingeschakeld lopen gebruikers risico. Alhoewel niet alleen Windows 10 de kwetsbaarheden bevat, stuurt Microsoft nu een “red alert” naar Windows 10 gebruikers om onmiddellijk updates te installeren.
